BlackBerry Bold 9700 is thought to be RIM’s flagship model when it comes to light weight and sleek smartphone. This phone with QWERTY keypad is completely business oriented and was launched in November 2009.
Design
If you have been using the BlackBerry phones for long time now then at first glance you might not see any distinction between this and other RIM offering. However, this classy phone has something new to offer with its sturdier looks. Most promising factor of BlackBerry Bold 9700 is the QWERTY keypad which has set of 35 keys which have been arranged in 3 rows. In order to make the keys more responsive in this crowded atmosphere, edges have been added to the keys, which certainly helps in typing at fast speed.
The sleek dimensions of the phone consists of 109 x 60 x 14 mm configuration with weight of 122 grams. The back of the phone mainly the battery cover is made up of the leather kind of material making it look expensive and stylish. You can even view the screen with ease even in the sunlight. This a great improvement for BlackBerry.
On the back of the phone, there is camera of 3.15 MP with 2048x1536 pixels which is a great up -gradation according to trend of BlackBerry which generally come with camera of 2MP. In the BOLD 9700, features like auto focus and LED Flash have also been added. The pictures taken are average. You don’t expect BlackBerry to be multimedia phone, it is a hard core business phone. There are not many options at hand to enhance the quality of images with only White balance and Effects present
You also have dedicated camera key as mentioned to capture picture directly by mere push of the button. Videos can also be recorded at 480x360pixels which is nothing to show off.

Games have also been added to device like popular ones like BrickBreaker, WordMole and Sudoko. You can add more which are Java and BlackBerry compatible.

With BlackBerry you do not expect any superior multimedia features but with BlackBerry Bold 9700 there is exception. The phone has pretty good music player with equally good sound. The music can be assorted into categories like album, artist and you can create your playlist as well. There are two separate equalizers for the headphones and loudspeaker giving out loud and clear sound effects. You can also listen to the songs through Bluetooth headset also. Music formats supported are supports MP3/WMA/AAC+ music files
Add to this video player which is quite impressive too and supports files like such as DivX, WMV, XviD and 3gp. Though the screen is small the viewing experience is not bad at all.

Apart from this Internet connectivity features like 3G, GPRS and EDGE which gives by far the best browsing experience. You can download large number files at faster rate without any lags. Moving in and out of the screen is great too. Like in Laptop, the optical track pad has made it quite easy to operate the cursor.
With Bluetooth and USB you can transfer the data from PC / Phone to your system and vice versa.
Like all BlackBerry messenger there are all the messaging options like SMS, Email, MMS and IM. Only drawback is that you have access to Blackberry Internet Service email accounts only and likewise for IM. To sync your phone with the PC you can upload BlackBerry Desktop Manager which allows you to transfer mails, documents and music.
Still not satisfied, A-GPS support and Blackberry Maps has been provided in your Blackberry to give you directions to any place on earth with the help of GPS receiver.
Processor and Memory

Smartphone is equipped with 256MB RAM and 256MB of internal memory which is expandable t 16 GB to store all kinds files like music, video and images. 2GB have already been given in the card slot.
Battery
1500 mAh Li-Ion battery gives out standby time of 408 hours and expected talktime of six hours. This is good for the average user and they can carry it out for 5 days with two or three time charging in a week.
Verdict
BlackBerry Bold 9700 though looks more or less similar to the other RIM devices only with nothing distinct to offer. Still, there has been some upgrade here and there like QWERTY keypad, impressive video player, high on connectivity, sensitive optical track-pad and great build. These are some of the features which make the device to be taken into consideration.
So if you are true Blackberry fan then there is no point telling you to buy this device, you will get the one anyways. And for those who haven’t got their own BlackBerry device you can give it a look.
